A homeopathic remedy of plant origin, Spigelia Anthelmia is prepared from spigelia, a poisonous plant native to South America and the West Indies. Originally, this plant was used by the Marquise de Brinvilliers to make deadly poisons, which earned it the name of Brinvilliers herb. Vermifuge spigelia causes violent, tearing pain along the facial nerve that leads to facial or dental neuralgia. In homeopathy, thanks to the principle of similarity, the plant is therefore used to fight against this pathology.
Main indications in neurology
Spigelia Anthelmia is mainly recommended in case of irregular or permanent pain in the face. This homeopathic remedy is also used to reduce tearing, dental pain and jaw pain. It also helps relieve trigeminal neuralgia, a pathology affecting the whole formed by the sensory and motor nerves going from the eye to the face.
Spigelia Anthelmia can also treat herpestic neuralgia, which is caused by a viral infection that can lead to an eye condition. It is common for these pathologies to be accompanied by palpitations and heart problems, two symptoms that are usually alleviated as soon as the remedy is taken. This homeopathic medicine is especially ideal for symptoms that worsen with cold, humidity, shaking, and movement but improve with rest and heat.
Spigelia Anthelmia is also used for sleep disorders, including insomnia or restless sleep. This remedy can promote more restful sleep, provided that the disorders mentioned are not attributable to another pathology.
Recommended dosages in case of neuralgia
To treat neuralgia and more particularly facial neuralgia, it is recommended to take 5 granules of Spigelia Anthelmia 7 CH as often as necessary until the symptoms finally disappear. Nevertheless, to calm the pain, especially when it becomes unbearable, it will be advisable to opt for higher dilutions, up to 15 CH.
Recommended dosage in case of sleep disorders
To combat insomnia and allow less restless sleep, it is advisable to take 5 granules of Spigelia Anthelmia 9 CH before bedtime. It should be noted that the dose can then be renewed in the event of waking up at night.
