Tonsillitis is a major irritation of the throat and tonsils. In most diagnoses, it is caused by a virus and is treated without antibiotics. But bacteria such as Streptococcus, Pneumococcus or Haemophilius influenza can sometimes cause it. Taking antibiotics then becomes necessary. Only a medical examination of the mouth can specify the type of angina. However, homeopathy, used alone or in combination with antibiotics, accelerates the healing of all types of angina.
The main causes of angina
When it is not bacterial, angina is often the result of excessive coolness that the body has experienced. The use of air conditioners, inhaling dry air, as well as smoking are more harmful to the health of a patient who has just been diagnosed with angina. In order not to aggravate the condition, it is often recommended to protect yourself against the cold in all circumstances and to adapt the temperature of your air conditioner to that outside. You should also humidify the air in the room you are in, abstain from smoking and avoid smoke-filled spaces. Regarding food, you should drink a lot of water or other drinks, but especially not alcoholic drinks.
Associated symptoms
Angina is recognized by a sore throat that is often accompanied by pain or difficulty swallowing with a burning sensation in the ears. This is why liquid meals should be preferred so as not to irritate the throat too much. If the angina is of viral origin, it is accompanied by a cough and/or a cold, which is not usually the case with bacterial tonsillitis.
An elevation in body temperature and a strong feeling of fatigue may be observed in the patient. In addition, the tonsils may be red, before the appearance of a whitish coating if the Streptococcus is the cause of the disease. The lymph nodes are not spared, they become irritated and the patient may vomit continuously. At this stage, other complications may arise and it becomes urgent to seek treatment.
Homeopathic treatments
Homeopathy can be used to treat all types of angina. But it is important to use specific products. A homeopathic doctor will know which homeopathic treatment to prescribe according to the symptoms and condition of the patient.
As a purely guideline, it may be advised, to treat viral tonsillitis, to take 3 to 4 granules of Belladonna 5CH and Mercurius Solubilis 5CH every one or two hours. 3 times a day, it is necessary to gargle with Phytolacca dye dissolved in water. Associated symptoms, such as difficulty swallowing, throat relief with warm liquid, or rhinitis, can be treated in parallel with Phytolacca, Capsicum or Arum Triphyllum with the same dosage.
Bacterial strep throat is usually treated with antibiotics prescribed after a medical consultation. But to speed up the healing, a homeopathic treatment can be combined. Thus, Mercurius Soliebilis 4 to 7CH, taken every hour, reduces radiation in the ears, white strep throat and other symptoms associated with this form of the disease. Mercurius Cyanatus 7 to 15CH is also indicated and should be taken 3 to 4 times daily to relieve painful swallowing. Depending on the affected side of the throat, other homeopathic products such as Mercurius Proto-iodatus (for the right) and Mercurius Bi-iodatus (for the left) may be used.
When should you see a doctor?
If the symptoms are not alleviated beyond 48 hours, it is necessary to consult a doctor. But with the sudden onset of symptoms, inflammation of the lymph nodes, any rash, a very high fever or a significant state of fatigue, you should not seek treatment at home but consult a doctor. At the slightest suspicion of angina, it is recommended to go to the hospital to determine the type and appropriate treatment.
