Dulcamara is a homeopathic medicine whose mother tincture is obtained by macerating the aerial parts of the bittersweet plant, a plant with the scientific name of Solanum Dulcamara. Known for its various therapeutic properties, this remedy is prescribed to treat pathologies that occur following cool, wet weather and are relieved as soon as dry conditions return. It is formulated in various forms, but the most commonly used are doses and granules.
ENT indications
In ENT, Dulcamara is prescribed in particular in cases of nasopharyngitis resulting from damp cold. Generally, this pathology manifests itself by the feeling of a stuffy nose that can also be accompanied by phlegm in the throat. In addition, the patient suffers from epistaxis, red, shiny, hot blood and his tongue being paralyzed by the cold, he has difficulty speaking. His tongue then becomes swollen, dry while his saliva is foamy and drooling. In the presence of these symptoms, Dulcamara is recommended.
Dulcamara is indicated for sensitive subjects who, following exposure to cold and humidity, suffer from tracheobronchitis and asthma attacks manifested by coughing and stuffy nose. Sometimes, the patient may have a mucous sputum, sometimes with shiny red blood. When he is lying down, he coughs violently and in addition, he may also have a fever, feel burns on the skin. At night, he sometimes shivered and sweated, his perspiration then smelled a strong smell.

In gastroenterology, Dulcamara is indicated in case of diarrhoea following a wet cold, usually in summer. Before the onset of this diarrhoea, the patient has an aversion to anything that is food while he experiences an unquenchable thirst. Nausea usually results in mucous, stubborn, pale vomiting. He has colic in the abdomen and the pain is spasmodic, especially in the umbilical area. Its stools are green, slimy, always preceded by almost unbearable pain, and in the most serious cases, they are bloody.
Indications in dermatology
In dermatology, Dulcamara is prescribed for rashes that tend to bleed as a result of scratching and occur especially in cold weather. Vesicular rashes can also be observed and at the same time, the epidermis thickens all over the body and you experience violent itching. Sometimes the patient suffers from hives but does not have a fever. Finally, in the case of flat warts, a treatment based on Dulcarama is particularly indicated.
Dulcamara is also effective in rheumatology when, after exposure to damp cold, the subject suffers from headaches and sciatic neuralgia followed by joint pain. Very often, in his muscles, he feels pain accompanied by a feeling of cold reaching the affected areas. These pains are sometimes heartbreaking, dull, throbbing that the patient is not comfortable and constantly wants to change position. He may also feel pain in the neck and lumbar part.
Recommended dosages in case of ENT disorders
To treat nasopharyngitis, asthma and fever caused by humidity or cold, 5 granules of Dulcamara 5 CH, 4 times a day for a week, are necessary. As a preventive measure, you can take 5 granules of Dulcamara 9 CH every other day for 6 months.
Recommended dosages in case of gastroenteric diseases
To treat diarrhea due to cold, 5 granules of Dulcamara 5 CH are to be taken after each bowel movement. The doses can be repeated as long as the patient's condition does not improve.
Recommended dosages in rheumatology
In rheumatology, pain can be treated with 5 granules of Dulcamara 7 or 9 CH. This dose should be repeated every 3 hours. As soon as the patient feels less and less pain, the doses can be spaced out before stopping them completely.
Recommended dosages in case of dermatological diseases
In dermatology, especially in case of itching, it is necessary to administer 5 granules of Dulcamara 9 or 15 CH in the morning and evening, over a period of 2 months. Whenever the patient suffers from itching, he or she should take the same dose. To treat warts, the recommended dose is 5 granules of Dulcamara 9 CH per day for 3 months. For more effectiveness, Dulcamara can be combined with other homeopathic remedies.
