Relieve motion sickness with homeopathy

Motion sickness can appear in all types of travel: by car, train, plane or boat. These disorders can be alleviated or eliminated with appropriate homeopathic treatment.

Motion sickness can occur under the effect of any means of transport: i.e. plane, train, boat or car. It is caused by the movements of the vehicle that stimulate the organs regulating balance located in the inner ear of the body. Homeopathy offers several remedies to treat motion sickness. Depending on the symptoms of the pathology in the patient, he or she will have to take one or more homeopathic remedies. Medication is taken the day before departure, then 1 hour before the start of the trip and finally taken regularly during the journey. When symptoms have disappeared, doses may be spaced out more frequently.

Symptoms

Symptoms often begin with a feeling of malaise, then dizziness. The person then experiences nausea and sometimes abdominal pain and then becomes pale. She may start to sweat abnormally and develop excessive salivation. All these sensations usually lead to vomiting, which has the effect of temporarily relieving the patient. During a long journey, especially by boat, the patient may show a state of great fatigue.

Certain factors unrelated to transportation can promote motion sickness in a person. They are generally linked to a bad atmosphere: tobacco smoke, pollution, lack of ventilation, heavy climate, too much heat, smell of food, unseemly noises, etc. Some factors are related to a person's condition, such as a state of anxiety or a period of life that increases sensitivity, such as pregnancy.

Treatments according to symptoms

Before each departure, it is advisable to take 5 granules of Cocculus indicus 9 CH in order to soothe the most bothersome symptoms. Borax 5 to 9 HP is recommended in cases of dizziness caused by air holes in planes and more generally, by all sudden movements of descents, also in cars and boats. Nux vomica is recommended in case of severe nausea, great weakness of the body and hot flashes. Petroleum is recommended in case of sensitivity to exhaust gas odors as well as in case of cold sweat.

Tabacum 5 to 9 CH helps patients who need fresh air and are pale. Coculus indicus diluted with 5 to 9 CH is also indicated when a person is sensitive to every movement of the vehicle, but also if he or she has feelings of weakness in the head and legs in addition to nausea and dizziness. Finally, Ignatia Amara 9 CH at a rate of 5 granules once or several times a day is recommended for seasickness as well as anxious subjects. The first dose is taken 3 days before departure, then it must be consumed throughout the journey and again for a week after arrival.

When to see a doctor?

The treatment of motion sickness with homeopathy does not present any risk and if the indications are followed, the treatment is effective. However, this treatment is reserved for temporary and low-intensity ailments. If the symptoms persist after 48 hours, it is advisable to consult a doctor. In all the following cases, it is also advisable to consult a doctor: if the motion sickness affects a young child or infant and he or she has vomiting and diarrhea at the same time; if the vomiting is accompanied by confusion, high fever or pain. A doctor should also be consulted if vomiting blood or repeated vomiting and diarrhea occurs in an elderly person, or if vomiting occurs suddenly after vertigo.
