Carduus Marianus is indicated to relieve poor liver function and particularly the gallbladder. It is effective against hepatitis as well as hepatic colic and by stimulating protein biosynthesis, it promotes liver regeneration. It can be prescribed to patients with various symptoms such as vomiting, stomach pain, jaundice, loss of appetite.
Carduus marianus also has a beneficial effect on venous insufficiency and can be used to treat hypotension. In addition, thanks to its property of reducing the concentration of histamine, it reduces the risk of the appearance of gastric ulcers. It is also beneficial for the abdominal circulation of blood and is effective in the treatment of hemorrhoids, menstrual disorders and uterine hemorrhage.
Carduus marianus is administered orally, presented as granules to be melted under the tongue, drops or drinkable ampoules to be dissolved with a little water. For curative treatment, 20 oral drops of Carduus marianus 6 DH are prescribed to be diluted with a little water, 3 times a day before meals, for 3 months. For effective hepato-vesicular drainage, it is combined with other homeopathic medicines that treat the same symptoms such as Taraxacum dens leonis, Solidago virga aurea, Berberis vulgaris or Cheligonium majus. The recommended dose in this case is 30 drops of Carduus marianus TM, 3 times a day. During the treatment, mint, coffee and tobacco are prohibited.
