Renal colic is pain in the kidneys as a result of the formation of a stone in the urinary canals. Since the function of the kidneys is to filter organic waste from the urine, these undesirable substances sometimes form a pebble consisting of calcium, sodium or potassium and block the conductive ducts of urine. However, renal colic can be treated with homeopathy, as an emergency or long-term measure to prevent new stones from forming after evacuation by urination.
Symptoms of renal colic
Renal colic can be recognized by the back pain it causes, which is so sudden that the patient does not have time to react accordingly. It is caused by the pressure of the urine exerted on the kidney, which tries to evacuate the urine to the outside. Sometimes pebbles form within a few hours, while others can grow slowly and cause severe pain only when they are large enough.
Blood-tinged urine and difficulty urinating are all warning signs of the presence of a kidney stone and therefore renal colic. If the stone is already present, renal colic will inevitably occur if the subject is riding a horse or motorcycle because it promotes the penetration of the stone into the urinary tract. An extremely painful affliction will then spread through the genital tract to the upper thighs and in some cases the subject may even be unable to walk.
Prevention of renal colic with homeopathy
If the patient knows that his body is a favorable environment for the formation of a stone, he can treat himself with homeopathy in order to prevent renal colic. Homeopathic remedies to relieve renal colic are not effective at the time of pain but are very effective if taken as a field treatment.
To combat phosphate and oxalate stones due to the accumulation of oxalic substances, it is advisable to take Oxalicum Acidum 5 CH in the morning, at a rate of 3 granules 3 times a day.
If the patient has difficulty urinating or if he feels a painful irritation in his urinary tract during urination, Sarsaparilla 5 CH should be administered. The treatment will therefore be three granules for three doses to be distributed during the day.
Berberis Vulgaris is indicated in the case of chronic renal colic which causes the amount of urine to be excreted never the same. The patient also feels pain in the back, which affects his bladder and urethra. To remedy this, Berberis Vulgaris should be administered 3 times a day, at a rate of three granules per dose.
Some people with kidney stones may have high levels of albumin in their urine. Most of the time, these are people with arthritis and uratemia. It is recommended that they take Formica Rufa 5 CH three times a day, at a rate of 3 granules per dose.
To anticipate renal colic and urinary tract spasms, it is possible to mix Belladonna, Lycopodium, Berberis Vulgaris and Pareira Brava, all in 5CH dilution in a bottle of demineralized water preferably.
Homeopathic treatment of renal colic
Once the stones have been evacuated through urination, the patient can undergo homeopathic treatment to prevent further stones from forming. These homeopathic remedies should be taken outside of pain attacks and will be diluted to 200 K. The dosage will be 5 granules each day.
Subjects who have favorable soils for uric acid calculation will be better immunized with long-term treatment based on Collubrina, Calcarea Carbonica and Lycopodium. When you have a phosphatic stone, Calcarea phosphoricum or Phosphoricum acidum are the most suitable homeopathic medicines.
When to see a doctor?
In case of urination problems or in the presence of foul-smelling or bloody urine, do not hesitate to consult a doctor. After the analyses, he will be able to prescribe the appropriate homeopathic treatment, in combination or not with allopathy. If, despite the disease-modifying treatments and post-pain remedies, the renal colic persists, a medical consultation is necessary again.
