Photosensitization is an increasingly common dermatological disorder. Promoted by excessive exposure to the sun, it can be caused by several factors such as the ingestion of certain medications and the application of certain beauty creams.
Characteristics of photosensitization
Photosensitization is a skin condition characterized by the increased sensitivity of the epidermis to ultraviolet rays. It can be caused by direct skin contact with products containing photosensitizing substances such as cosmetics among others. Photosensitization can also be caused by the ingestion of products or medications such as antibiotics. It can also be of genetic origin in subjects predisposed to photosensitization.
Symptoms
External photosensitization is characterized by the appearance of reddish skin lesions similar to those of a sunburn. These lesions affect the surface of the skin coated with the photosensitizing product. The rashes are similar to hives with itching and an abnormality of the pigmentation that turns brown or bluish. Photosensitization of internal origin is characterized by red patches with tiny blisters as well as severe itching. The lesions cover the entire skin exposed to the sun. Genetic photosensitization is characterized by insensitivity to tanning of areas devoid of melanin, erythema and skin atrophy.
Treatment of photosensitization
The symptoms of photosensitization are to be treated with Muriaticum acidum 7 CH, at a rate of 3 granules 3 times a day, to be combined with Apis mellifica 5 CH and Belladona 5 CH, at a rate of one dose every hour. In case of pruritus, these remedies should be taken with Urtica Urens 7 CH. The sockets should be spaced out gradually according to the improvement. Chronic photosensitization can be reduced with a background treatment based on Natrum Muriaticum 9 CH or 15 CH, at a rate of 3 granules once a week. Individuals predisposed to urticaria can prevent summer lucitis by taking Histaminum 9 CH once a week.
To reduce superficial burns of the skin, it is necessary to administer homeopathic remedies at the rate of 5 granules, 3 times a day. In order to treat red erythema with a sensation of heat and pain, it is advisable to take Apis mellifica 9 CH and Belladona 5 CH. Glonoinum 5 CH is suitable for treating a malaise characterized by a red face and a high temperature. A tear in the surface layer of the skin and the appearance of blisters will be reduced by taking Cantharis 5 CH. To mitigate the adverse effects of photosensitization, it is also possible to take 5 granules of Hypericum perforatum 9 CH four times a day.
When to see a doctor?
It is advisable to consult a therapist if second-degree burns and a generalized rash are observed. Elderly subjects or children with an altered and weakened general condition must also urgently receive adequate medical treatment.
