Nettle is a plant whose leaves and stems are covered with hairs containing a corrosive liquid, which is very irritating to the skin and causes painful itching. Some varieties of nettles are even said to be deadly. But curiously, the remedy from this plant is mainly used to fight against hives attacks. To make Urtica Urens, the burning nettle, a less toxic species of nettle, better known as "little nettle", is used.
Urtica Urens is a homeopathic remedy that treats irritation and itching caused by contact with the variety of plant from which it is derived. It is the very principle of homeopathy that assumes that a substance introduced into a healthy individual can produce unpleasant symptoms, but if the same substance is injected into a "sick" individual, in small doses, it leads to his cure. Thus, Urtica Urens is recommended to treat urticaria. Generally, the latter manifests itself as the appearance of red patches on the skin, accompanied by a sensation of heat, burning and itching that is difficult to reduce. However, it is not advisable to scratch the affected area as this will only accentuate the problem instead of relieving the individual.
Other indications in dermatology
Urtica Urens is also used as an adjunct to certain dermatological treatments. Thus, it is ideal for treating skin conditions due to certain allergies.
In addition, this homeopathic remedy is also widely used in cases of simple burns (up to the second degree). However, care must be taken as Urtica Urens is not suitable for chemical burns, nor for those caused by boiling liquid, regardless of the severity of the burn.
Recommended dosages
In the case of acute urticaria, which results in the spontaneous appearance of plaques, it is recommended to take 5 granules of Urtica Urens 5 CH each time you take it and to repeat the operation every 10 minutes. The treatment should be continued for 2 days. In the case of chronic urticaria, prolonged treatment for 3 months will be necessary. To do this, take the same dose of Urtica Urens 5 CH per dose (5 granules per dose), which should be renewed each time the itching returns.
If the urticaria is caused by an allergy to shellfish, it is better to take 3 granules of Urtica Urens 9 CH every 10 minutes and to space out the doses as the patient's condition improves.
In the case of eczema in an infant or child, a 9-day treatment is necessary. To this end, administer 2 granules per dose, taking care not to exceed 5 doses per day for 2 days, then 3 daily doses for 6 days.
