Treating gingivitis with homeopathy

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums of various origins that can present several symptoms. The application of an adequate homeopathic treatment can effectively combat the manifestations of this infection.

The gums protect the deep parts of the mouth from any aggression and also participate in the overall elimination process of the body. This constant aggression sometimes leads to the development of gingivitis. This inflammation comes from several different sources, external but also internal, such as a digestive problem.

Symptoms of gingivitis

It is important to know how to detect the signs of this inflammation because often there is no pain. Thus, the affected person only realizes it at an advanced stage. Bleeding is a symptom that can be permanent or punctual. This phenomenon is likely to occur only at night. In the absence of bleeding, a simple abnormal redness of the gums is also a sign of inflammation.

In addition, the gums can swell due to hypertrophic gingivitis. Depending on the severity, there may eventually be a detachment and worrying mobility of the tissue. Sometimes the gums swell so much and clog the teeth or retract so that the necks appear. Excessive swelling accompanied by redness and bleeding usually announces a hypertrophic variant located (epulis).

Other symptoms are edema in the papillae and shiny gums. The gums become painful, especially in the case of ulcero-necrotic gingivitis. Among the extreme cases, there is destruction of the tissues connecting the teeth and the maxilla. This is the beginning of receding gums, which ends with the loss of teeth.

Treatment of various gingivitis

There are many ways to treat gingivitis depending on the symptoms that occur. For chronic gingivitis, taking 2 granules of Calcarea Fluorica or Luesinum 5 CH three times a day is recommended. In case of edema, 2 granules of Apis or Phosphorus 5 CH should be added for a few weeks. The haemorrhage can be slowed down by 2 granules of Kreosotum, Arnica or Carbo Vegetalis, in five daily doses.

Remedies for more severe inflammation

When the inflammation is acute, taking Belladonna or Aconite every two hours will be effective. Other components can also be effective such as Apis Mellifica (burning gums) or Cantharis (burns, thirst and ulcerations), but on prescription from a homeopathic doctor, especially for the level of dilution (CH). Also on recommendation, some tinctures such as Mercurius Solubilis relieve the gums when they become sensitive to cold or wind.

When to see a doctor?

Given the delicacy of the gums, it is important to always consult a doctor if you are unsure about the type of gingivitis and if there is no improvement after the treatment. As the problem is often linked to an internal deficiency or a bad habit such as smoking, only a doctor will be able to determine the true source of the inflammation.
