Even if it is not serious, functional colonopathy is a chronic disease that is often disabling for the patient. This pathology is caused by motor disorders that occur in the large intestine: the bolus progresses too quickly or, conversely, too slowly.
Symptoms of colonopathy
Functional colonopathy manifests itself as a disorder of intestinal transit. When the sun is slow, the affected person suffers from constipation or false diarrhoea, i.e. in the form of small, hard stools covered with mucus. On the other hand, if the bolus of food passes rapidly through the large intestine, the affected person suffers from diarrhoea which can present itself in different forms. Apart from these two extremes, the patient may suffer from bloating, abdominal pain and flatulence. It is important to note that these disorders are not associated with fatigue or weight loss.
In
order to reduce abdominal pain during an attack, it is possible to take 5 granules of Chamomilla vulgaris 15 CH every 30 minutes until the symptoms gradually disappear. Dioscorea villosa 5 CH can also be used in case of pain that is alleviated by extension. In this case, the remedy should be administered once every 30 minutes. Finally, Magnesia phosphorica 5 CH and Colocynthis 5 CH are indicated for pain that subsides when the patient bends in half. The dosage will then be one dose every 30 minutes.
In
case of associated diarrhoea, remedies such as China rubra 7 CH and Carbo vegatalis 5 CH should be used. China rubra should be used when diarrhoea occurs after the consumption of fruit and the dosage to be taken is one per hour on the first day. In the following days, it will be advisable to increase the intake to two daily doses until a noticeable improvement is felt. Carbo vegetalis is indicated for the treatment of diarrhea attacks associated with bloating and stomach pain. For optimal therapeutic effectiveness, the remedy should be taken every hour.
Treating constipation
To combat constipation, it is advisable to use Nux vomica 5 CH, at a rate of 5 granules three times a day. If the bowel movements come with difficulty, it will be preferable to take 5 granules of Magnesia 5 CH three times a day. On the other hand, if the affected person does not feel the urge to have a bowel movement, it will be advisable to administer 5 granules of Bryonia alba 5 CH in addition to a sufficient intake of water. Finally, if other treatments fail, it is advisable to take 5 5 CH Opium granules every twelve hours.
When to see a doctor?
By consulting a doctor, you can have an accurate diagnosis that will rule out other conditions with the same symptoms. The specificity of functional colonopathy is that it does not lead to a deterioration in the state of health, unlike other pathologies. The diagnosis is made by an interrogation which can be supplemented by medical examinations. To make the diagnosis, the observed disorders must manifest themselves at least three months in the year. Once the disease has been identified, treatment is done through improved diet, laxatives and medication for diarrhoea. The treatment does not have a curative purpose but allows the patient to be relieved.
