Senega is a homeopathic remedy prepared from the eponymous plant which is also known as Polygala senega. It is the Virginia polygala, a plant belonging to the Polygalaceae family. To make the homeopathic remedy, the mother tincture is extracted from the roots of the plant.
Indications in pulmonology
Senega is a homeopathic remedy mainly indicated for the treatment of acute bronchitis. It is an inflammatory pathology affecting the respiratory tract in the bronchi and causing the appearance of fever and coughing attacks. The classic treatment of bronchitis is very often symptomatic and consists, for example, of taking cough suppressants. However, the cough itself is evidence of congestion in the airways, leading the body to try to expel secretions that congest the bronchial tubes. The homeopathic remedy Senega would be the ideal treatment to remedy this, because unlike allopathic treatments, it also treats coughs, while eliminating secretions that clog the airways.
Senega is therefore recommended in cases of difficult expectoration, often leading to a reduction in respiratory capacity, especially in the elderly and babies. This medication also relieves the chest, which becomes particularly painful from coughing. Overall, Senega is the most recommended homeopathic remedy in all forms of respiratory failure. It can also be used as an adjuvant treatment for asthma attacks.
Recommended dosages
In case of inflammation of the bronchi, especially to calm coughing attacks and remedy the difficulty of expectoration, low or medium dilutions of Senega 5 CH or 7 CH are often recommended. The granules should be taken every 2 hours until the cough is much more productive. As soon as an improvement is observed, continue with the same dilutions of Senega 5 CH or 7 CH at a rate of 3 granules morning, noon and evening.
