Varicose veins are unsightly deformities of the veins that are mainly noticeable in the legs. But other parts of the body can also be affected by varicose veins. About 30% of the population is affected by varicose veins and activities that require standing for a long time promote the appearance of varicose veins.
Presentation of varicose veins
The most visible varicose vein is the sinuous deformity of the veins, followed by a dilation of the veins that occurs in the legs. In the rectum, varicose veins are better known as hemorrhoids. Elastic fibers line the wall of the veins and there comes a time when, due to the sustained stretching of these fibers, they no longer return to their original shape. This is how varicose veins form and it is especially the superficial veins that are subject to permanent dilation.
There are two types of varicose veins. The first is the so-called "pressure varicose vein". It owes its name to the fact that it is the pressure exerted by the blood that has caused the wall of the vein to burst. The second is the "varicose vein wall" which occurs when the elasticity of the fibers no longer works. It is common for both variants to be found in the same individual, for example, in pregnant women. The hormones it produces line the vein wall and create the varicose vein. In addition, the baby she is carrying compresses the vessels that carry blood to the lower limbs, which will create pressure varicose veins.
Symptoms of varicose veins
The main symptom is a cordon bleu that appears on the surface of the skin. This blue coloration that you see through the skin is stagnant blood. It is the poor venous function that explains the stagnation of the blood. It then causes discomfort in the lower limbs. The most common sensations are heaviness in the legs, very unpleasant tingling or a feeling of swelling in the veins. At night, cramps can occur and sometimes you have a feeling of significant fatigue. In addition, itching may occur in some parts of the leg. It can even happen that an ankle oedema appears at the end of the day. It should be noted, in fact, that the painful manifestations of varicose vein appear at the end of the day. But pain can also occur in hot weather or simply when you are immobilized for a long time.
Treatment of varicose veins with homeopathy
Homeopathy does not cure varicose veins that have already formed, but it can relieve pain and alleviate symptoms. In case of pain and swelling in the legs, it is advisable to take 5 granules of Vipera redi 5 CH as well as 5 granules of Arnica montana 9 CH twice a day. It is recommended to complete this treatment by taking 5 granules of Aesculus hippocastanum 5 CH three times a day if a haemorrhoidal flare-up is added to the varicose veins.
When to see the doctor?
In general, it is necessary to consult the doctor when the visible traces of varicose veins cause aesthetic problems. At the beginning of the problem, the affected veins are tense and palpable, but the blue discoloration does not appear until later. Pregnant women are the most prone to varicose veins, so it is in their best interest to be followed by the doctor from the first weeks of pregnancy.
