Sunstroke is a syndrome that often occurs in summer when you don't bother to protect yourself from the sun's rays. This sudden disturbance of the human organism results from an exaggerated exposure of the head and neck to the sun's rays. The ultraviolet rays released by the sun produce heat that will be stored in the skull, thus considerably disrupting the normal control of the temperature of the human body. It is this disorder that leads to the appearance of the first symptoms of sunstroke.
Symptoms of sunstroke
Sunstroke is recognized when redness appears on the skin following prolonged exposure to the sun. There is then a significant increase in body temperature in the absence of fever. Among the many discomforts that can occur, there is a feeling of heaviness, dizziness, ankylosis of the neck and especially a feeling of warmth in the face.
Sometimes, ringing in the ears appears and the heart may start to beat slower or, on the contrary, much faster. In the most extreme cases, these symptoms are accompanied by severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness and dizziness. If any of these symptoms appear, the sunstroke should be treated immediately, as it can very quickly worsen the patient's health.
Treating sunstroke with homeopathy
Before any treatment, it is advisable to cool the individual to stop the hyperthermia and to hydrate him as much as possible. If the patient is anxious, restless and does not sweat, it will be possible to administer Aconitum napellus 15 CH at a rate of 5 granules every hour. If sunstroke manifests itself in headaches, vomiting and an increase in body temperature, then it is preferable to administer 5 granules of Belladona 15 CH every hour, especially in case of heavy sweating. In case of chilliness and fatigue of the subject, it is advisable to take 5 granules of Natrum Carbonicum 9 CH respecting the same frequency of administration. Glanoinum 9 CH is also recommended for treating sunstroke, but this remedy is especially suitable for people suffering from severe headaches.
In subjects who are not thirsty and feel a sensation of intense heat, it will be possible to take 5 granules of Apis Mellifica 5 CH every hour. Glonoin 5 CH is much more suitable for people in whom sunstroke is accompanied by congestion, neck palpitations and high blood pressure. If the subject feels like he's stupefied, it is advisable to administer 5 granules of Gelsemium sempervirens 15 CH every hour, while if he feels suffocating, it will be preferable to administer 5 granules of Lachesis mutus 15 CH every hour. Finally, it is important to know that the doses should be spaced out according to the improvement of the symptoms.
When to see a doctor?
Regardless of the symptoms observed, it is advisable to consult a doctor as soon as possible, especially if the affected person is a child, a pregnant woman or an elderly person. Indeed, in these subjects, sunstroke can very quickly become complicated and give rise to significant brain damage, generalized lethargy and lead in the worst case to death. As for other subjects, it is advisable to seek medical attention in the presence of continuous nausea and vomiting.
