Treating periarthritis and rheumatological pathologies with Solanum malacoxylon

Solanum malacoxylon is a homeopathic remedy prescribed for the treatment of various muscle and joint diseases in rheumatology.

Solanum malacoxylon refers to the plant and the mother tincture that is widely used in homeopathy to treat certain rheumatological conditions. This remedy is calcinogenic, which means that it destroys calcifying formations in the joints and connective tissues. Periarthritis and chondrocalcinosis are the two calcifying diseases treated with Solanum malacoxylon in homeopathy.

Main indications for Solanum Malacoxylon

Solanum Malacoxylon is indicated in the field of rheumatology. This homeopathic remedy treats, among other things, patients with periarthritis, which is a term for several calcific diseases affecting the bursa, muscles and tendons in the shoulder, more specifically in the joint. Periarthritis also includes adhesive capsulitis, which stiffens the shoulder by the deposition of calcium at this level. Both calcific diseases can be relieved by taking Solanum malacoxylon in the same way as joint chondrocalcinosis, which stiffens the joints by the emission of calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate in the form of crystals around the joint.

Recommended dosages

Calcific periarthritis can be treated with Solanum malacoxylon 6 DH. The patient will have to take 10 to 20 drops each time, twice a day. But at a certain stage of the disease, the homeopath is led to combine Solanum malacoxylon 6 DH with Solanum malacoxylon in 30 CH or 15 CH depending on the case.

Calcific tendonitis of the shoulder, also called supraspinatus tendon calcification, is characterized by regular or spaced pain due to the rotational movement of the shoulder. To remedy this, Solanum malacoxylon 5 CH should be taken once a day.

Heel spurs or tendonitis of the heel tendon is manifested by tension of the fascia which is none other than the tendon in question. The pain felt in the heel is actually the result of being overweight or the massive practice of activities that put strain on the feet such as walking or hiking. To treat heel spurs with homeopathy, you should take Solanum malacoxylon 4 CH before switching to the 9 CH dose for 4 weeks.

In some manifestations of rheumatism, the homeopath is led to combine Solanum malacoxylon with other homeopathic remedies to make it more effective. For example, in the treatment of some severe cases of periarthritis, Solanum malacoxylon is prescribed with Calcarea phoshorica or Lycopodium 15 CH. Solanum malacoxylon 5 CH is taken with Calcarea carbonica 16 CH when calcific tendonitis is at an advanced stage and in this case, the two homeopathic medicines will be combined.
