Viburnum opulus is a little-known remedy while it has undeniable effects in the treatment of painful periods and other gynecological conditions. It is used both to relieve the pain that women feel in the ovary and uterus during menstrual periods, as well as to treat delayed and light periods.
Viburnum opulus, a homeopathic remedy used in gynaecology
Viburnum opulus is the scientific name of the viburnum that is also known as snowball, curd or even Gelderland rose and sometimes sapwood. A deciduous and palmate shrub of the Caprifoliaceae family, the viburnum grows on moist soils at an altitude of no more than 1,600 metres. It has poisonous red berries with an unpleasant smell and white ball-shaped flowers, hence its name snowball.
Long known by traditional practitioners, viburnum is mainly used for its relaxing properties, particularly to relieve cramps. The bark of the stems is the main raw material for the preparation of the homeopathic remedy borrowed from phytotherapy.
Disorders requiring the use of Viburnum opulus
Viburnum opulus is particularly indicated for the relief and treatment of crampoid dysmenorrhea. It is therefore recommended if the woman feels pain in the uterus before having her period, if she has a lot of difficulty getting up after sitting down and if she cannot lie on the side that hurts. Sometimes the woman has a feeling of general heaviness or she feels a painful weight in the pelvis, so that she cannot sit or stand still because of the pain. Sometimes periods are light-coloured, but in some women, they are late and not very heavy. In addition to these symptoms, there are hard stools and rectal pain.
In
case of painful periods, late or light periods, take 3 granules of Viburnum opulus 30 CH, every 10 minutes if the pain is particularly severe. Then space out the takes when you notice improvements.
During menstruation, in case of sudden and violent spasms and if the pain affects the back, buttocks and thighs, take 3 granules of Viburnum opulus 9 CH for 6 doses in one hour. The same dose will also be taken for painful periods with the presence of blood clots or if the woman has a frequent urge to urinate and urinary problems.
The homeopath often prescribes Viburnum opulus 9 CH against nausea, various discomforts and stomach punctures. In these cases, take 3 granules every 10 minutes and reduce the frequency of taking when improvements are noted.
