The homeopathic remedy Mercurius Dulcis is made from mercurous chloride. Insoluble in water and alcohol, mercurous chloride occurs in the form of a white powder. This very fine substance, also called Calomen, is manufactured in several countries, particularly in the United States, Yugoslavia, Mexico and Germany. In the sixteenth century, it was used as a laxative to treat liver or intestinal disorders. Nowadays, it is used for the manufacture of certain insecticides and fungicides.
Gastroenterology
Mercurius Dulcis is prescribed in cases of cirrhosis of the liver and stomach pain manifested by nausea and vomiting after a heavy meal. It can be used to treat dysentery with watery, sparse stools. Constipation, accompanied by epigastric pain and a feeling of emptiness in the stomach, can be alleviated with this homeopathic remedy. Mercurius Dulcis helps relieve children who have diarrhea accompanied by a constant urge to move their belly and who have greenish-colored stools with the consistency of scrambled eggs.
The
homeopathic remedy Mercurius Dulcis is also very effective in alleviating serous otitis due to repeated and poorly treated nasopharyngitis, or to deafness dating back several years. It can be used to treat toothaches, sore throats or inflammations of the tongue and lips with a blackish mouth, foul breath and abundant salivation. People whose eyes frequently become red and dry can undergo treatment with this homeopathic remedy.
Recommended dosage in case of gastroenterological disorders
For the treatment of cirrhosis of the liver, stomach pain and dysentery, it is advisable to take 5 granules of Mercurius Dulcis 4 to 5 CH 3 times a day. Constipation, with epigastric pain and feelings of emptiness, can be alleviated by taking 3 granules of Mercurius Dulcis 7 CH every morning and evening. For children with diarrhoea with greenish stools, they should be given 3 granules of Mercurius Dulcis 5 CH 3 times a day.
Other dosages
Peoplesuffering from serous ear infections should take 3 granules of Mercurius Dulcis 5 CH 3 times a day. Toothaches, sore throats as well as inflammations of the tongue and lips with a blackish mouth, can be treated with 5 granules of Mercurius Dulcis 4 CH 3 times a day. When the eyes become red and dry, it is recommended to treat them with 3 granules of Mercurius Dulcis 7 to 15 CH, to be taken once a day.
