A set of muscles closing the inferior strait of the pelvis, the perineum is crossed by the urogenital organs and the anus. Relaxation of the perineum, which is quite common after childbirth, requires treatment to avoid complications. It should be noted that this relaxation can occur at any time of life, in both children and adults and especially in women. In any case, it is therefore useful to re-educate the pelvic floor muscles.
Symptoms requiring rehabilitation of the pelvic floor muscles
After childbirth, it is essential to carry out rehabilitation of the pelvic floor muscles, especially if the baby weighs more than 3.7 kg and the diameter of the skull is greater than 35.5 cm. Indeed, these facts can lead to trauma with damage to the muscles of the perineum. When these muscles relax, three types of incontinence can occur, but the most common form is urinary incontinence, i.e. small leaks following sneezing, laughing, jumping or exertion. Frequent urination is another form of incontinence and occurs mostly at night. These are major symptoms that must be taken into account and rehabilitation of the muscles concerned must be undertaken immediately.
Recommended treatments
To strengthen the supporting tissues in the perineal area, taking Calcarea fluorica 5 CH is recommended, at a rate of 5 granules per day for 3 months. To treat urinary incontinence due to relaxation of the pelvic floor muscles, take 5 granules of Causticum 15 CH until there is a marked improvement. This dosage can also be replaced by taking a dose of the same remedy, 3 times a week. If incontinence occurs mainly during the first sleep, take 5 granules of Sepia 5 CH, 2 times a day and in addition, a dose of 15 CH once a week.
When to see a doctor?
If, after the administration of the indicated remedies, the patient's condition remains stationary, it is imperative to consult a doctor as this would mean that the pelvic floor muscles are still relaxed. Indeed, it is preferable to consult a gynaecologist as soon as possible and in case of severe complications, the consultation of a urologist is necessary.
